Inside BBSAwards 2017 – one day with Elektroshok Records – Interview
Elektroshok Records is an independent label and one of the most recognized Breakbeat & Bass labels worldwide, since 2009.
Thanks for your time! Now that we are almost at the end of 2017.
what are some words you would use to describe this year? I think i would say, exciting and hardworked
What have been some of the highlights for the label?
Well, we have reached the Top 1 on Beatport many times and lots of Top 10!
What’s in store for 2018 for Elektroshok Records?
As always, we have a huge amount of music to release and we are pretty stoked to do that!
What made you decide to create Record Label?
We were always looking for labels for our music and we only saw labels that only released music from their “crew”, their “family”, also, we realiced there was not a good Spanish record label back in 2009 so we decided to start our own and push ourselves to the market!
How did you come up with the name?
The name was an idea of one of our members, Guau, to be honest we loved it since he proposed it so here we are 🙂
What album are you most proud of in your label?
i would say the Guau’s album ‘5303’
In your years in the music business, what is the best thing about being involved with it and the worst?
The best thing is that you find and meet people from all over the world and their music is so different that you can never excpect anything. The worst thing is that some people thinks they can be rich by releasing one Breakbeat song on Beatport so when they do not get a HUGE amount of money from 1 solo track they get mad.
What’s your most memorable experience inside the label?
One of our tracks were selected for and AD in the Uk, that was absolutely amazing .
What does your day-to-day look like?
I am a producer, dj, and label manager so my day starts doing music until i have ended what i had in mind for that day, then the label stuff starts with tons of mails, demos etc….sometimes is a lot of work because i have to finish my own stuff and also finish some label stuff, lucky for me i’m not alone on this!
When looking into potential new artists to sign, what are some of the qualities that you find exciting?
We love people that are consistent and have differents perspectives of Breakbeat. There is an artist called 3DStas, who is very very talented, he showed us there is more out there!
Do you have any advice to offer up to incoming artists/djs/bands?
if you want to make it in the industry, you have to be patient, work hard and never stop, even when labels says your track is not ready, you just keep working because nobody is perfect and in music, you have to learn new things every day!
